COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Law enforcement agencies across the state arrested 518 drivers during their Thanksgiving DUI enforcement period.
The enforcement period ran from November 18 to November 28. Statewide, 97 agencies participated. The Colorado State Patrol made the most arrests, at 64. Aurora police arrested 69 drivers, Denver police arrested 57, and Colorado Springs police arrested 38.
During last year’s Thanksgiving enforcement period, which was half the length of this year’s, 283 drivers were arrested.
A new DUI crackdown begins Friday and runs until December 12. At least 90 law enforcement agencies across the state are participating in the effort. During last year’s holiday enforcement period, 596 drivers were arrested.
