49 Coloradans arrested in nationwide online child porn sting

A total of 49 suspected online child sex offenders are now off the streets of Colorado thanks to Operation Broken Heart, Colorado Springs police announced Thursday. 

The three-month nationwide operation was conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children task forces. It targeted suspects who produce, distribute, receive, and possess child porn, engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes, or travel across states lines to foreign countries and sexually abuse children. 

During the three-month operation, law enforcement statewide initiated 214 investigations, executed 69 state and four federal warrants, arrested 49 people, and submitted eight cases for federal prosecution. 

CSPD is the lead Internet Crimes Against Children agency in Colorado. They arrested 15 suspects during the operation. 

More than 2,300 suspected online child sex offenders were arrested during the operation nationwide. Investigators identified a total of 383 child victims.
