COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A student has been arrested for a stabbing at Carmel Middle School earlier this month.

Earlier this month, 11-year-old Kyler Nipper was stabbed with a pencil in the hallway when a fight broke out at the school. The suspect in the stabbing, an 11-year-old boy, was arrested Monday. He is charged with second-degree assault.

Nipper had to be taken to Denver Children’s Hospital for trauma surgery after discovering one of his lungs was punctured in the stabbing.

Nipper told FOX21 that he was bullied because he can’t wear regular shoes.

Since his recovery, he has been collecting shoes to give to other children who are experiencing similar issues.
