Colorado State Parks passes now available for checkout at local libraries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is teaming up with local libraries to make it easier for families to check out state parks.

Patrons of dozens of libraries across the state can now check out free “Check Out State Parks” packs. Each backpack contains a pass good for entry into any Colorado state park, binoculars, brochures, and other educational materials.

The pass is valid for seven days. Regular fees for activities such as camping and fishing still apply.

Each library has two packs available for checkout. The backpacks are available at the following libraries in the Pikes Peak region:

  • Cañon City Public Library
  • CSU Pueblo Library
  • Fort Carson Post Library – Grant Library
  • John C. Fremont Library District
  • Penrose Community Library District
  • Peterson Air Force Base Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Cheyenne Mountain Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – East Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Fountain Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – High Prairie Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Library 21C
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Manitou Springs Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Monument Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Old Colorado City Community LIbrary
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Palmer Lake Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Penrose Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Rockrimmon Community Library
  • Pikes Peak Library District – Ruth Holley Community Library

The pass is valid at all state parks, including Cheyenne Mountain, Mueller, Castlewood Canyon, Eleven Mile, Spinney Mountain, and Lake Pueblo.>> Full list of participating parks statewide. 

The pass is NOT valid at national parks and monuments such as Great Sand Dunes, Florissant Fossil Beds, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
