COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Retailers all over the country observed Free Comic Book Day on Saturday.
Muse Comics and Games offered thousands of free comics to readers of all ages. Saturday morning, they even had a costume contest with prizes and giveaways.
“This is our holiday,” owner Amanda Salmons said. “This is our big day a year, so this is our Christmas, basically. Getting here this morning and setting up for Free Comic Book Day and we already have a line that wraps our entire shopping mall, so it’s fantastic.”
Free Comic Book Day started in 2001, when a comic book retailer in California saw the success of comic-based movies, and decided to expose moviegoers to the stories and illustrations that inspired the films.
