Students in the Careers in Construction program at the Career Readiness Academy got the chance to learn on-the-job construction skills Thursday.
The students paired up with workers from the Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs. They spent two days doing demolition and framing on a live project–remodeling the Housing and Building Association offices.
During the year, the students learn in a small workshop. This week, they got to test their skills in a real-life situation.
The Careers in Construction program is currently active in six regional schools, teaching hundreds of students per year.
