Boy Scout troop assembles Thanksgiving baskets for Colorado Springs families in need

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Local families in need will now have a sweeter Thanksgiving, thanks to Boy Scout Troop 187.

The troop members and their families packed up Thanksgiving meal baskets as part of their annual campaign to help out Westside Cares, a nonprofit in Colorado Springs.

This year’s meal baskets will benefit more than 50 families. Their Thanksgiving dinners will now be complete with all the turkey and fixings.

“Being able to, as a Scout, serve the community, do as best as I can for the community, just to help people out as much as I can, just feels like to be a good person overall,” Boy Scout Kody Sudol said.

Westside Cares distributed the baskets Monday. All of the contents were donated by 21 faith communities.
