PUEBLO, Colo. — A body was found in a burned RV in the parking lot of a Pueblo church Thursday morning.
It happened at the First United Methodist Church at the intersection of 11th Street and Court Street. Police said the owner of the RV is a church security guard and lives above the church. Around 4:30 a.m., he woke up and smelled smoke. He looked outside and saw the RV, which he had been restoring, was on fire. He called the fire department and firefighters put the fire out.
Then, around 8:30 a.m., the owner went outside to check the damage. That’s when he found a man’s body inside the RV, under some debris.
Investigators said the man most likely died of injuries sustained in the fire. They believe the fire was set accidentally.
The victim has not yet been identified.
The RV owner told investigators his RV had been left unlocked, and he had last been inside it two days ago.
