Authorities in El Paso County have arrested a man suspected of committing at least one armed robbery in Colorado Springs.

Springs police said Rodney Eaves, 35, of Colorado Springs, was arrested after a search warrant was obtained for an east-side storage unit.

During authorities search, detectives discovered evidence critical to an armed robbery case that took place on January 24.

Police say the armed robbery took place at the United Check Cashing located on 3275 East Platte Avenue. Eaves allegedly wore a mask and threatened employees with a shotgun during the robbery. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.

Detectives found Eaves’ getaway vehicle he used during the holdup inside the storage unit he had rented.

Investigators found that Eaves was staying in a motel near Fountain Blvd. and Academy Blvd., where TEU and K-9 officers surrounded the building and took Eaves into custody.
