FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Fort Collins officials say police officers have shot and killed an armed suspect just north of the city.

The Coloradoan reports (http://noconow.co/2bMKGn7 ) that officers responded to a domestic disturbance report Thursday and saw the suspect entering a residence illegally. The suspect exited the residence on officers’ orders but then approached them while brandishing a weapon.

Officials say officers attempted to use a stun gun, but it was ineffective in stopping the suspect’s advance. Officers then shot the man.

Police spokeswoman Kate Kimble says more than one officer fired on the suspect and that all involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The identities of the suspect and the officers involved have not been released.

The multi-agency Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
