Penrose Elementary kindergartners collect socks and water for those in need

A+ News

Kindergartners at Penrose Elementary got a huge lesson Thursday in giving back.

Ms. Evers’ kindergarten class took wagons full of socks and water to Village Seven Presbyterian Church to help out those in need.

The items were collected by the students, and it was their idea to take part in this act of kindness.

The kids also wrote kindness letters to the people receiving their donations.

“‘Kindness is what we can all afford to give’ is their saying inside the cards that they made for whoever gets the bag,” Evers said. “And then there’s another kindness saying on the outside of the bag as well. So they brought those over, walked them over from our school to the church.”

On Friday, One Nation Walking Together will go to Penrose Elementary to collect hats, mittens, and toys that students also donated.
