DIVIDE, Colo. — The Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, or TCRAS, is a limited-intake facility for dogs and cats of the Pikes Peak region.
Their goal is to keep all their animals well-fed, warm, and comfortable–but some require some significant medical care to get there.
TCRAS says they’re small but mighty. Because they’re small, they get to know their animals really well.
“Once they become ours, we name everybody that’s here because we like to individualize them,” executive director Mary Steinbeiser said. “That’s what is so special about TCRAS: we know our animals inside and out. We know what they need. We know what kind of training they need. We know if they have some medical issues. Most times we even have a really good idea whether they’re house trained or not.”
The private nonprofit raises all of its own funds through fundraising, adoption feeds, and donations.
