COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Today, we’re featuring Indy Give nonprofit Rocky Mountain Highway.
Their hope is to turn Colorado Springs into a world-class destination for music while also supporting local musicians and songwriters. You might know their flagship event, Meadowgrass Music Festival, which is held every Memorial Day weekend. It’s family-friendly and incorporates things like the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Millibo Art Theater, and popular restaurants and breweries around town.
“The concert scene is not as well-developed as it might be in Boulder or Denver, and so we’re trying to compete with those larger metropolitan areas and to make Colorado Springs known for its music scene,” Rocky Mountain Highway executive director Steve Harris said.
They have another big event, the Snow Ball, coming up Sunday at the Gold Room downtown. The band Cornmeal is headlining, with the Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble opening for them.
