Foster Together, a nonprofit creating a community for foster parents, held a gathering Sunday night at Building Three Coffee.
Foster Together’s goal is to normalize foster care. The nonprofit encourages others to be involved and get behind the cause in any way they can.
Founder Hope Forti fosters four children with her husband.
“Foster care is not for superheroes,” Forti said. “It’s not for martyrs. It’s not for really special people. It’s for the average person who feels like they can give a little bit extra to a kid who needs it.”
Forti said foster care is a 24/7 job, but kids aren’t looking for perfection. They’re looking for someone consistent they can rely on.
