Woman found guilty in AutoZone murder

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The woman accused of being an accomplice to an AutoZone murder nearly two years ago has been found guilty, according to authorities.

Frani Olivas was found guilty of First Degree Murder. According to police, she was accused of helping Ernest Schmidt in a Colorado Springs AutoZone shooting on July 28, 2011.

Ernest Schmidt was arrested Aug. 2 and charged with First Degree Durder in the case. Schmidt, according to police, shot a man to death in the parking lot of the store at Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard on July 27, and shot another man inside the store during an armed robbery.

He then kidnapped a third victim and drove down Palmer Park to Academy Boulevard before letting that person free, police said.

Schmidt was caught five days later near the Valley Hi Golf Course. In Jan. 2012, he accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Schmidt's wife, 35-year-old Dawn Morgan, was also charged with accessory to first degree murder.
