COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Getting back to normal for the Boyd Family means moving back to Mountain Shadows four months after the Waldo Canyon Fire destroyed their home and turned it into rubble with a brick column as the only thing left standing.
"It's home, it's nice to be back home again," Joseph Boyd, who's destroyed home was rebuilt said.
It's hard to miss the newly finished property as you turn onto their culdisac because it's the only home that's complete.
And while the sounds of construction have taken over the vacant neighboring plots the Waldo Canyon Fire is never far from their mind.
"I never dreamt that it would get this far into the city. You hear about wildfires all the time and you feel for those who live in the deep woods and who've lost homes, but this is Colorado Springs," Trish Boyd, who's destroyed home was rebuilt said.
The Boyd's credit the speedy construction to builder Classic Homes and their quick decision to move back to the community they love.
A decision that has the Colorado Springs community celebrating with them as they unpack and settle into their new digs.
"The neighborhood is slowly coming up and a lot of the people are still working on looking ahead, it's not easy. But if you really are determined you can get it done," Joseph Boyd said.
