COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A 13-year-old has died from injuries he sustained in a skateboarding accident Saturday night.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said the teen was riding his skateboard with a friend on Howard Avenue, between Palmer Park and Uintah, when he hit a curb and was thrown to the ground.

Officers said when they arrived on scene, they learned the teen had been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Unfortunately the 13-year-old did not survive.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

His name has not been released.
