Burglar flees after homeowner surprises him

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police are searching for the man accused of burglarizing a home and then fleeing Monday afternoon.

At about 1:45 p.m., police said a man entered his home, in the 1500 block of North Royer, near Uintah Street and Wahsatch Avenue, and surprised a burglar.

Police said the burglar pointed a handgun at the homeowner before fleeing out the back door. The burglar, according to police, had forced entry into the home.

No injuries were reported and the a K9 was not able to find the suspect.

He was described as a white man in his 20s, about six-feet tall with a thin build wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and a blue stocking cap.

Any information on this crime can be reported to police at 444-7000.
