Suspicious device explodes near Memorial Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police are continuing to investigate a suspicious device that exploded near Memorial Park Sunday afternoon.

At about 2 p.m., Sunday, a person who was moving into a rental property in the 800 block of Las Animas Street reported that he discovered a suspicious item.

The man described the device as a possible small explosives device, police said.

The Colorado Springs Regional Explosives Unit responded and bomb technicians used remote procedures to investigate, police said.

Police said the device expoloded but because it was placed remotely, no one was hurt.

Any information on this device can be reported to police at 444-7000.
