Colorado Springs police officer hit by stolen vehicle

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs Police officer is recovering after being hit by a vehicle Saturday morning.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m. near the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Fillmore Street.

Police said they were attempting to stop a stolen car when the driver sped away, struck the officer, and then crashed near Virginia Avenue and Nichols Boulevard.

The female suspect was able to get away on foot.

The officer was treated and released from a local hospital.
