COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Developers are still hoping to resurrect skiing on Pikes Peak west of Colorado Springs.
John Ball, a Boulder County telecommunications executive, is hoping to raise money and get permission from regulators to bring back skiing after three decades.
Ball established a limited liability company in 2007 and hopes to raise $50 million.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera, environmentalists are worried about damaging the iconic mountain which served as the inspiration for the time-honored song, "America the Beautiful."
A former property owner previously set up six ski runs by hand cutting his own trails.
