COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A teenager who died after being hit by a car while trying to cross Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs has been identified.

Colorado Springs Police officers said 19-year-old Derick Cantrell was killed while trying to cross Academy at Maizeland Road late Tuesday night. A northbound car that had a green light hit him.

Cantrell died in the hospital Wednesday morning.

Officers said the driver of the car was not drinking or speeding and has not been charged.
