AURORA, Colo. (AP) -- Documents filed with the city of Aurora describe changes planned for the movie theater where a gunman opened fire this summer.

The theater, operated by Cinemark, was the site of an attack that killed 12 people and wounded 58 others July 20, but Mayor Steve Hogan has said there is strong support to reopen it.

The Aurora Sentinel reports that plans filed with the city this month indicate theater 9 at the Century Aurora 16 is slated to become a Cinemark XD, or "extreme digital" theater with an oversized screen.

The building plan estimates costs of $950,000 for materials. It describes upgrades and changes in exterior lighting and design. It says the theater will have 360 seats, down from 421 listed in the theater's original plans from 1997.
