Gunman stabbed during attempted burglary

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers said a man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed during an attempted burglary Monday morning.

According to officers, a 33-year-old man with a gun tried to enter an apartment on Mount Werner Circle around 11:48 a.m. There were three adults and a child in the apartment, and the gunman struggled with at least one of them before being stabbed.

He left the apartment and collapsed on the lawn in front of it before being taken to the hospital.

Officers said the people in the apartment did not know the gunman.

Officers are not releasing any other information about the incident but want anyone with information to call them at (719) 444-7000.
