FREMONT COUNTY, COLO. -- Colorado Highway 67 is closed between Wetmore and Florence in Fremont County after a bridge connecting the two towns on the highway was damaged in Tuesday's storms.

Water flowed steadily over the bridge Tuesday night, causing it to sink about five feet below the highway.

The wooden bridge, built 60 years ago, was rated in good condition.

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews are evaluating the repairs the bridge will need before it can be reopened.

CDOT officials said drivers can use U.S. 50 north of the bridge, Highway 96 from Pueblo and Highway 69 or 96 west of Wetmore as detours.

About 1,300 cars use the closed stretch of Highway 67 every day.
