PARK COUNTY, COLO. -- The latest wildfire in Park County has grown to more than 1,000 acres Tuesday, though growth has slowed since erupting to 970 acres by midday Monday.

Fire crews do not have any containment yet but hope to have the Springer Fire partially contained Tuesday.

The fire started around noon Sunday, grew to 450 acres Monday and then to close to 1,000 before the evening. U.S. Forest Service officials said it is now 1,100 acres.

Dry, warm and windy conditions throughout the state have made firefighting efforts difficult. Crews expect cooler temperatures later Tuesday and Wednesday.

More than 300 firefighters are on scene for the third wildfire in the county over the past two weeks.
