Man wanted for prison escape arrested in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A man wanted for a Colorado Department of Corrections escape warrant was arrested by Colorado Springs police early Friday morning.
Jason Robert Flynn, 36, was wanted on several outstanding warrants, including the escape warrant, police said.
At about 1:30 a.m., police saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of East Platte Avenue and Pitkin Avenue. Police tried to catch up to the vehicle but it sped up as it turned west on Boulder Street.
Officers were able to keep the vehicle in their sight. As the vehicle turned north on Iowa Avanue, it parked. The suspect then ran from the vehicle.
Police were able to call out the suspect’s description and direction of travel to other officers in the area. A perimeter was set up and Flynn was found lying in the backyard of the 400 block of Swope Avenue.
Flynn was taken into custody. Police said a large amount of blood was found on his face from an unknown head injury.
A gun that Flynn dropped was found in the area, police said. Keys to the vehicle were also found.
Police said Flynn had brass knuckles in his possession. He was arrested for Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and traffic charges.
