COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police arrested a man after he led them on a chase Tuesday morning.

At about 8:45 a.m., police received a report of a man who located his stolen 1993 Chevrolet Camaro. The car was being driven by a man on Platte Avenue, police said.

An officer in a patrol unit, along with a motorcycle officer, located the vehicle when it was traveling east on Carefree Circle South at Powers Boulevard.

The officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver fled.

Because of road conditions and actions of the subject, police said the pursuit was terminated.

A police commander was in the area and saw the vehicle pull into the Staples Parking lot in the 2900 block of New Center Point. Police said the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran into the store.

The commander chased the suspect on foot and was able to capture him at gunpoint.

Police said the vehicle theft was of a civil nature.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old James Nocon, was arrested on charges of Felony Eluding and Forgery. The forgery charge was a result of evidence that was found inside the car, police said.
