For District Court Judge, Timothy Schutz, the opportunity to wed citizens is a nice change of pace from normal court proceedings.
"I don't see people at their best," said Schutz. "I have a half-criminal docket and a half-civil docket. And so people in front of me are sometimes in difficult situations and not always a positive environment. And it's fun to see weddings and see people on a happy occasion, making the kind of commitment that a wedding and marriage entails."
On Wednesday, Judge Schutz had five weddings in his courtroom. A number above average. Partly because some couples see the date 12.12.12 as a lucky number.
That was the case for newlyweds Danylle and Nathaniel Everett.
"I think it was my idea," recalled Danylle. "I was looking at my calendar and I saw there was gonna be 12-12-12 this year, and I was like, we should get married on that day."
The two were wed by Judge Schutz in front of just a few family members. But there was a lot of love in the room.
"I think I told him I loved him after a day to be honest with you," said Danylle.
Nathaniel responded, "I pretty much told her that...I'd take care of you...and I've been forced to live up to that."
When asked where they wanted to be on 12.12.13 they answered, "Together...in Vegas."
