Two teenagers ran into a few obstacles this morning, and into some trouble with the law.
Colorado Springs Police were called around noon to a burglary at a house near Hancock and Drennan. Officer Spaulding spotted a white minivan leaving the area at a high rate of speed, and contacted the vehicle when it was involved in a traffic crash at Hancock and Morning Mist. The driver, a 13 year old boy, was a suspect in the burglary, and police learned the van was stolen.
While at the crash scene, a citizen told police that a second car was involved in a crash a few blocks away, at the Loaf N Jug at Hancock and Drennan. The person in the second car fled on foot but officers were able to close in on the suspect, later identified as a 14 year old boy, within a one-block radius. K-9 Riko found the uncooperative suspect in a shed about two blocks west of the convenience store.
Both teenage suspects were taken in custody. They were treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released. Both will be charged with numerous charges including burglary, motor vehicle theft and carious traffic related charges.
