COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An Olympian training in Colorado Springs in preparation for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London got his competition air pistol back after Colorado Springs Police officers made an arrest in a burglary from Monday.

Officers said Elias Matos broke into Olympian Robert Bremer's car Monday and stole a number of items, including his competition air pistol, his laptop, his wallet and a number of other items.

Matos then used Bremer's credit cards at a nearby store, and officers were able to grab surveillance photos from the purchases Tuesday and identify the man as Matos.

Officers went to Matos' home Wednesday and found the stolen van he used in the burglary, as well as several of the items he had stolen from Bremer's car.

They arrested Matos and charged him with first degree criminal trespassing, identity theft and theft by receiving.

Steffan Gebhardt, Bremer's teammate from Germany, is also in Colorado Springs for trials and had items in Bremer's car when it was broken into. Officers said most of the items have been returned to the athletes, but the investigation is ongoing.
