BALTIMORE (AP) — Don't look for Calvin Borel to be riding the rail in the Preakness. The jockey who is so confident in Super Saver that he boasted the colt will win the Triple Crown has a new plan of attack.
Borel says he expects the second leg of the Triple Crown to be the opposite of the speed-crazed Kentucky Derby. He says if another horse wants to go to the lead Saturday, he can position Super Saver just off the pace.
If not, Borel says he and the Derby-winning colt will take it to their 11 rivals.
Super Saver is the early 5-2 favorite for the 1 3-16-mile Preakness. If the colt can back up Borel's brash boast, he'll set himself up for a Triple Crown try in three weeks in the Belmont.
