Guns 'N Hoses tournament is Thursday before Sky Sox game

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- On Thursday, August 6, the Sky Sox hosts its inaugural “Guns ‘n’ Hoses” softball tournament, presented by Del Taco, which pitz teams from the Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Springs Fire Department and the Consolidated Fire Departments of El Paso County.
There will be three games played in advance of the Sky Sox 7:05 p.m. contest against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers).
El Paso County Fire will face Colorado Springs Fire Department at 3 p.m., followed by a game between El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Springs Police Department at 4 p.m.
The winning Fire Department will face the winning Police Department in the Guns ‘n’ Hoses Championship game at 5 p.m.
Each of the semi-final games will be five innings in length (with a maximum time of 45 minutes), while the championship game will be seven innings long (with a maximum time of 60 minutes).
All three games take place at Security Service Field and are open to the public with the purchase of a game ticket for the Sky Sox game for Thursday evening.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department will donate its fundraiser proceeds to the family of fallen Colorado Springs Police Department Officer Michael Builta, while the Colorado Springs Police Department will split its fundraiser proceeds between the Police Athletic League and Officer Builta’s family.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will donate its fundraiser proceeds to Safe Passage, and the fundraiser proceeds from the Consolidated Fire Departments of El Paso County will benefit a select charity which has not yet been announced.
Fundraiser tickets for the event must be purchased in advance and are available through each of the four participating organizations.
