COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Thursday night at Norris Penrose Stadium sounded a lot like the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo held annually in Las Vegas, Nev. with numerous well-known cowboys competing for top honors at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

In the bull riding it was World Champion Wesley Silcox (Santaquin, UT) who walked away with the high score of the rodeo thus far. He rode Cajun Monkey for an impressive 91 points as the last competitor of the evening.

In the saddle bronc riding, legendary World Champion Billy Etbauer (Edmond, OK) matched moves with Springboard for 82 points but was edged by South Dakota’s most recent world champion, Jeff Willert of Belvidere. Willert moved to the top of the leader board in the event with 85 points aboard Pine Cone.

It was Hall of Fame tie-down roper Roy Cooper’s son who took top honors in the tie down roping event. Clif Cooper of Decatur, Texas wrapped up a 9.1 second run to win the performance.

In its fifth year, The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo proudly supported and contributed to the "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" (TETWP) campaign Thursday night.

“We are honored and excited to be a part of such a project. It is great to see the whole concept of cowboys being so tough, yet strong enough to wear pink to honor all the women and men survivors who continue to battle breast cancer," said TETWP chairwoman Pam Dawson.

The rodeo donated $1 for every fan wearing pink and $5 for every contestant wearing pink while competing to the Renee’s Friends Fund to provide nonmedical services for breast cancer patients in the Pikes Peak region. The total donation this year was $5600. Sixty contestants wore pink Thursday night in the arena in support of this great cause.
