Ferris State beats Denver in NCAA Regional

GREEN BAY, WIS. (AP) -- Jordie Johnston and Simon Denis scored, and Taylor Nelson made 25 saves to help Ferris State beat Denver 2-1 on Friday night in the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The CCHA regular-season champion Bulldogs (24-11-5) will face Cornell in the regional final Saturday night, with the winner advancing to the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla. Cornell beat Michigan 3-2 in overtime.

Drew Shore scored for the Pioneers (25-14-4).

Johnston opened the scoring at 4:30 of the second period, and defenseman Simon Denis made it 2-0 at 2:54 of the third with his first college goal. Shore scored at 5:22 of the third.

Sam Brittain made 32 saves for Denver.
