BOULDER, COLO. (AP) -- The head women's soccer coach at the University of Wyoming has resigned after accepting the same job at the University of Colorado.

Danny Sanchez, who announced the move Monday, led the Cowgirls to their best season in history this fall with a 12-6-4 record, and he notched a 36-34-11 record at Wyoming over four seasons.

Before coming to Wyoming, he coached at Metro State and Mesa State in Colorado.

The 42-year-old Sanchez will replace Bill Hempen, who resigned last month after 11 seasons at CU. He led the Buffs to six NCAA Tournament appearances, but the program had a difficult time transitioning to the Pac-12, finishing 1-9-1 (4-13-2 overall) this season.

Sanchez said Monday "(We) will do everything we can to make the Buff Nation proud of the soccer program."
