COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Goalie Joe Howe made 25 saves to lead Colorado College to a 3-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over Bemidji State in the Tigers' season opener on Friday.
Howe never faced more than nine shots in any period.
Jaden Schwartz scored the game-winning goal in the second period for the Tigers (1-0-0, 1-0-0), who outshot the Beavers 28-26.
Michael Boivin had a goal and an assist and Gabe Guentzel added a goal.
Mitch Cain scored the only goal for Bemidji State (1-2-0, 0-1-0), tying the game at 1-1 in the second period.
Bemidji State goalie Dan Bakala made 25 stops.
