The International Olympic Committee has announced that Rio de Janiero will host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
It's the first time a South American city has ever been chosen to be the host site. Africa and Antarctica also have never hosted the Olympic games.
In the first round of voting, the city of Chicago got the least amount of votes and was knocked out of the next round, which stunned the crowds partying on the streets of Chicago in anticipation of the announcement.
Tokyo was knocked out in the second round of voting. The last vote pitted Madrid, Spain against Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
