Senior SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (AP) -- Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) scored a game-high 18 points, but the Air Force women’s basketball team dropped a 68-46 decision to San Diego State Saturday afternoon at Viejas Arena.

Dymond James (Sr., Brambleton, Va.) added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Falcons, while San Diego State finished with five players in double figures scoring, led by Courtney Clements with 15 points.

Although the Falcons outshot and outrebounded the Aztecs in the opening half, San Diego State still led by as many as 10 points in the first period. Trailing 23-13 with 2:20 left in the half, Air Force (2-18, 1-6) went on a 7-0 run to cut its deficit to three points with 20 seconds remaining. However, Chelsea Hopkins knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to send San Diego State into the locker room with a 26-20 advantage.

The Aztecs pulled away after the break, shooting nearly 61 percent over the final 20 minutes and holding a 20-8 advantage on the boards in the second half. San Diego State (15-5, 6-1) went on to lead by as many as 23 points with 2:59 remaining in the contest.

Air Force returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 6, when they close out the first half of their Mountain West slate against New Mexico. Fans are invited to “Pack the House” as the Falcons host the Lobos in a 7:00 p.m. contest in Clune Arena.
