USAFA, COLO. -- Shooting just 25.8 percent from the field, the Air Force women’s basketball team dropped a 64-44 decision to in-state rival Colorado State on Wednesday evening in Clune Arena.

Juniors Cherae Medina (Denver, Colo.) and Camille Thompson (McDonough, Ga.) were the Falcons’ leading scorers against the Rams with nine points each, while Dymond James (Sr., Brambleton, Va.) added seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Falcons missed their first 10 field goals of the contest and fell into a 22-5 deficit with 7:17 remaining in the opening half. Air Force responded with a 9-0 run to cut the margin to single digits, but Colorado State was able to push its lead to 30-18 at the break.

In the second half, Air Force (2-14, 1-2) was unable to get any closer than 11 points, as CSU used its advantage at the charity stripe. The Rams, who converted on 21-of-24 foul shots for the game, scored their last 10 points at the free throw line to extend its lead in the final two minutes.

Caitlin Duffy led Colorado State (5-10, 1-1) with 18 points, while Sam Martin added 17 points and LaDeyah Forte finished with 12 points and six assists.

Air Force had the advantage on the boards, outrebounding Colorado State, 45-35. However, the Falcons were unable to get inside to score and converted on just 2-of-21 field goal attempts from beyond the arc.

The Falcons are back on the road this weekend, Jan. 19, when they visit Boise State in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
