COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- In an effort to increase communication between the Colorado Springs City Office and the citizens it serves, a new mobile app has been developed for your Smart Phone to help expedite that process. It's called 'GoRequest: The City of Colorado Springs Citizen Request Customer Service'. The free app is supported on both the Apple and Android platform.

"This app helps that opportunity in creating an alternate way to interface with our government," said Chief Information Officer Jesse James. "There's only a few pieces of information that you need to put in there and it automatically captures your GPS location and automatically routes it to the right department to work your issue."

It's as simple as taking a picture of whatever you have a complaint about. There are 11 categories you can submit, including loud dogs, graffiti. park maintenance, streetlights, potholes and more.

After you submit your issue, you will receive a ticket confirming the proper department has been notified. And the clearer the picture you submit, the more helpful it is.

"A picture is worth a thousand words, right? So that information really kind of helps us get to that area and address the problem quicker," said James. "Rather than having to drive down here or make a phone call and get put on hold, you can automatically pinpoint the area where the problem has occurred. And the efficiency of that auto-routing, that request directly to the departments created an internal operational efficiency for the city as well."

This app is not to be used for emergency purposes. Calling 911 is still the best option for dangerous situations.
