DENVER (AP) -- Alabama-Auburn it's not. So, new Colorado State coach Jim McElwain doesn't want his players making too much of the Rocky Mountain Showdown against the University of Colorado on Saturday.
For two programs in full rebuilding mode, he said it's enough to just slice through the hoopla and adrenalin and just focus on playing good football.
Instead of getting caught up in the moment, he's imploring his players to "get caught up in the now.'
This tunnel vision doesn't mean McElwain isn't also focused on the future. He said he wants to help this become a "relevant rivalry" down the road.
