Rapids defeat Swansea City 2-1

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (AP) -- Seldom-used Andre Akpan scored in the fourth minute and the Colorado Rapids beat Swansea City 2-1 in an exhibition game Tuesday night.

Akpan who has started one game for the Rapids, took a cross from Luis Zapata and buried a header into the right corner of the goal. Akpan last scored on April 30, 2011.

Kamani Hill added a goal in the in the 15th minute for the Rapids, who are 7-13-1 in MLS this season.

Jonathan De Guzman scored on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 79th minute for Swansea City, a team from Wales that plays in the English Premier League. The team managed only two shots on goal.

The Swans had one legitimate scoring chance in the first half. Daniel Graham took a cross from Nathan Dyer and sent a header over the crossbar in the 24th minute.
