LARAMIE, WYO. (AP) -- Former Wyoming standout Mitch Unrein is living out a dream as a backup defensive lineman for the Denver Broncos.

Unrein grew up in Eaton, Colo., where he became a big Denver Broncos fan at a young age.

Unreintells the Laramie Boomerang that he frequently watched the Broncos  training camps when they were held in Greeley.

He walked on at UW in the fall of 2005 and worked into the starting lineup his sophomore season. He closed out his Wyoming career by making 37 consecutive starts.

Unrein signed on with the Houston Texans but was cut before the 2010 season.

But the Broncos put him on their practice squad before moving him to the active roster this past fall.
