SAN JOSE, CALIF. (AP) -- Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture scored in a 4:29 span of the third period to help the San Jose Sharks overcome a two-goal deficit and beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 Thursday night.

Ryane Clowe and Michal Handzus also scored for the Sharks, who won for just the third time in 10 games.

Paul Stastny scored twice for the Avalanche, who lost their ninth straight on the road. Ryan O'Reilly and Daniel Winnick also had goals for Colorado, which beat the Sharks in a shootout on Tuesday night.

Stastny and Winnick each scored in the second to give Colorado a 4-2 lead heading into the final period.

Couture scored the winner with 8:31 remaining, redirecting a shot by Patrick Marleau to give the Sharks only their second victory when trailing after two periods.
