DENVER (AP) -- Brian Stafford scored 22 points and Denver defeated Texas Southern 62-46 on Saturday.

Rob Lewis added 13 points and Chris Udofia 10 for the Pioneers (6-1). Udofia also had five blocked shots and five assists.

Omar Strong had nine points to lead Texas Southern (1-6). The Tigers only managed 16 points in the first half, shooting just 30 percent. They only trailed by 10, and fared better from the outside in the second half -- shooting 57 percent -- but Denver shot 61 percent after halftime and opened up a 24-point lead midway through.
