FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- Chantel Kennedy says she's leaving Colorado State to transfer to a women's basketball program closer to home.

The 5-foot-7 junior guard told the Coloradoan she is headed to Division I Kennesaw State, which is about an hour's drive from her hometown of Norcross, Ga.

Kennedy started 19 games for the Rams last season and averaged 3.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Two other players have left Colorado State in the past nine months. Junior forward Chatilla van Grinsven of the Netherlands left in January and transferred to St. Joseph's, where her older sister, Samira, plays basketball. Guard Meixandra Porter left in May to transfer to Division II Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
