ENGLEWOOD, COLO. (AP) -- Perrish Cox says he's able to focus on football even as he faces a sexual assault trial in October.
The Denver Broncos' second-year cornerback participated in the team's first practice of training camp Thursday.
Coming off the field afterward, Cox told The Associated Press:
"I just want to apologize for everything that's been going on. I'm truly grateful that football has started back up."
He acknowledged his legal troubles still weigh heavily on him.
If convicted, Cox faces between two years to life in prison. Cox has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Broncos President Joe Ellis said this week the team will monitor Cox's legal situation.
Cox believes he won't get cut. The former Oklahoma State standout was thrust into the starting role because of injuries last season.
