BALTIMORE, MD. (AP) -- Steele Stanwick had three goals and two assists, leading seventh-seeded Virginia to 14-8 victory over No. 6 seed Denver in the national semifinals Saturday.

The four-time champion Cavaliers seized control early in their 22nd appearance in the final four. Stanwick and Chris Bocklet had two goals apiece as Virginia led 9-2 at halftime.

Jeremy Noble scored three times for Denver (15-3), which was making its first appearance in the semifinals. The Pioneers outscored the Cavaliers 4-1 in the fourth quarter to make the final score more respectable.
