FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- An assistant Colorado State football coach arrested earlier this year on suspicion of check fraud has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft.
The Coloradoan reports Robert Todd Stroud was ordered Friday to pay $4,305 in restitution, complete 48 hours of public service and remain a law-abiding citizen for the next six months to avoid jail time.
Police had accused Stroud of writing a check for more than $4,000 from one account to another without having enough funds to cover the check.
Stroud's attorney, Erik Fischer, says Stroud wrote the check thinking he would receive money from another party, but it didn't happen.
Colorado State athletic director Paul Kowalczyk said Friday that Stroud is still coaching the Rams' defensive line.
